So, we have a holiday assignment.
It’s a mini research project on methods of research. I was really excited about it at first but now that I’ve gotten started, I’ve realised that research is a bitch. You never get the information you really need. Instead, you get millions of other irrelevant points which you end up adding into your assignments and eventually, you get sidetracked.
Some case studies we’ve been given to research on are:
- Asylums - Erving Goffman
- Street Corner Society - William Foote Whyte
- Tea Room Trade - Laud Humphreys
- Doing the Business - Dick Hobbs
- Learning to Labour - Paul Willis
- Endless Pressure - Ken Pryce
- Early Learning - Cecile Wright
- Unification Church - Eileen Barker
- Glasgow Gangs - James Patrick
We need at least 10 so we can pick a few from the list given then pick a few more of our own.
So far, I think I’m done with research on Erving Goffman and also have a brief idea of the Stanford Prison Experiment led by Philip Zimbardo.
If you have no life and want to help me out, iNiks@live.com.
I will love you forever, I swear. Bye now.
